Notte Night Light

Notte was initially a materials exploration project. Later I realized the interesting lighting qualities it provided. Experimenting with different materials combinations, I finally came to the perfect and elegant combination of wood and resin. The interesting form dictated a unique interaction with the light; placing it upright to turn on the light, while placing it on its side would turn it off.

The light, standing at two and a half inches, is made from Maple and clear cast resin (mixed with colour); while the interior of the light is fitted with a replaceable battery and LED.

I have experimented with different types of wood as well, from Walnut to Cherry; with various results in aesthetics and "feel" of the light. This specific combination as seen in the picture above reflected a more luxurious modernistic result.

The experience with using the lamp is based on the usage of the light during night time. Being hard to see, as long as you're able to grab a hold of the light, you're able to turn it out without having to fuss around for a switch or button. The light provides both comfort and relaxation effects with the soft glow of the light.
